Our elders

Meet Our Elders

Forward City Church is up and running because God is good, Christ is alive, and we work as a team and family to bring glory to God in Chatham. However, if you want to learn more about some of the people that help keep us going, we invite you to get to know our elders.

MARC SOTO – Lead Pastor

Marc Soto is the Lead Pastor of Forward City Church. God brought Marc from the beaches of Cocoa Beach, Florida to the snow belt of Owen Sound, Ontario, when he married His wife Marcia in 1995. They have ministered together ever since. In 2014, God called them, along with a handful of other amazing people, to start Forward City Church (planted by Emmanuel Baptist Church, Chatham). They are blessed every day to serve along side people who have a desire to share the love of Jesus with those far from God, and help others move towards a full life in Jesus. Marc is a self professed “foodie”, and he and Marcia enjoy spending time outside, and hanging out with their two beautiful daughters.

Matt Charron has been married to his beautiful wife Becky Charron since 2012, and now have the joy of raising three energetic boys. Matt grew up in Wallaceburg, and now lives in Chatham. Working as a teacher, he has a deep love for seeing God work in the lives of children, and God has given him a passion and conviction for developing their gifts through teaching, encouragement and discipleship. Serving at Forward City Church has opened his eyes to the necessity of discipleship in growing God’s kingdom and helping people move forward towards a full life in Christ

Mark Curry, his wife Renee, and their 3 children happily call Chatham their home. Being a relatively new resident of Chatham, Mark believes that God has called them to live here and serve the people of this city. Mark has a passion for the outdoors, and naturally finds joy in worshiping God through enjoying His creation. Mark and his family love being part of Forward City Church, focusing on living truth, building relationships, and moving lives toward a full life in Christ.

Craig Hillman accepted Christ as Lord of his life in his early twenties. He had met his now wife shortly before that, and followed her to church a few times. What began as a spark of interest in faith, ignited, and Craig’s life has since been driven by his passion for Jesus Christ, as well as his wife, Jessica. Together, they raise and homeschool their four children. Craig is a life-long learner in many subjects, mainly apologetics (defending the gospel) and food (all types of food, but mainly bacon). In 2016, Craig and Jessica experienced the Lord calling them to move back to Chatham from their current home in Sarnia to be part of God’s work through Forward City — helping the people of Chatham move forward towards a full life in Christ!
